My Rating: 3 Stars
Tooth and Nail by Craig DiLouie is a solid zombie e-book. It took a while to get going but once it did I was hooked. I can’t say that I loved it, but I liked it and would definitely recommend it.
The Tooth and Nail zombie e-book is about a bioengineered rabies virus that scientists unwittingly unleash on the human population. The innocuous virus quickly mutates into a new super-aggressive “mad dog” strain that attacks the human brain creating a zombie host obsessed with infecting new victims. Mad dog infection is spread by saliva.
I like the way “sleeping” zombies seem to dream about their past lives which causes some of them to wimper and scream out in emotional pain. Unfortunately, these zombies, which are hosting the mad dog virus only have a life-span of about 5 days. And they can be killed like normal human beings—the brain does not have to be destroyed.
All in all I found the Tooth and Nail plot to be plausible (despite a few logical contradictions), which made it a bit more creepy than the average zombie theory which is based on superstition or relies on suspension of disbelief. My bottom line analysis is that Tooth and Nail is an enjoyable e-read.
